Freeze Weekly Update

Pee Wee LA

On Saturday, the Freeze hosted NoVA for their last regular season league game. The Freeze came ready to play and won 4-0. On Sunday morning, we traveled to Laurel for a non-league scrimmage with Tri-City and won 8-0. Hats off to both of our goalies Carl Borge and Zak Atkinson for the shutouts!

Squirt UA

The final weekend for the UA team brought a big win and a frustrating tie. Saturday and a road trip to Reston saw the boys mercy the Raiders 10-1. Special recognition goes to Jacob Koennel in securing a hat trick.

Sunday brought the Caps Academy to Fredrick for the last game of the season. An early goal was not seen by the referees and not allowed. This unfortunate turn of events would haunt the Freeze as the game as game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Squirt LA

The LA team played their last two games of the 2019-2020 season. This season was a year of firsts for the LA team as they competed in the EJEPL and played more than 50 games!

On Saturday, the LA team took on the Montgomery Blue Devils. This was a very competitive game, but in the end the Freeze fell to the Blue Devils 6-4.

On Sunday, the Freeze traveled down to Piney Orchard to face the Metro Maple Leafs. Right from the start, the Freeze dominated the ice. Securing a 4-0 victory over the Maple Leafs and ending their season on a win. Special recognition goes to goalies, Vincent Shrader & Davis Blaszak for dominating the net!

Squirt B

The Squirts finished their season with a whirlwind of action, having two games on Saturday and one on Sunday. To get into the playoffs would require two wins and a tie. Our first match was away at Annapolis as Navy was looking for revenge for their first loss to us. Down two players to the flu, goalie Dom Studlo led the team to victor with a 5-0 win.

After a quick lunch, the team hustled across the beltway to an evening match with the Chevy Chase Flames. The game was tight through two periods but the short bench and post-flu fatigue was too much to overcome and the Squirt B’s went down 0-4.

Playoff hopes were still alive going into Sunday’s match against Piedmont. Whoever won the game was headed to Richmond. The Freeze jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead but the Predators tied it up going into the third period. The game flowed back and forth and the Freeze battled hard. Unfortunately the Squirt B’s fell 3-2 when the final buzzer sounded. The team fought valiantly but came up 2 goals short in their bid for the playoffs, finishing 5 of 12 teams in the Wales Division. Congrats on an awesome season, B’s!

Mite LA

The LA team played their last regular season games this past weekend at The St. James. First up, they faced the always tough Howard and the Freeze were looking to avenge a couple of losses to the Huskies earlier in the season. The scoring was plentiful from both teams, with Jay Vivian leading the way with a hat trick. However, the Huskies found the net more often and dropped the Freeze 10-7. The team shook off that loss and came out with faces of determination as they took the ice against the Jr Canes/White. Five different players connected the puck with the net, scoring was led by Mason Lampe’s hat trick. The Freeze bested the Carolina team 10-3. Up next, the Carolina Jr Canes/Red, and the Freeze showed no signs of slowing down. Once again, Jay Vivian led the scoring with a hat trick, and five different players found the back of the net, to give the Freeze a victory in their final regular season game, with a score of 10-6.

Mite B1

The B1 team finished the season in style on Sunday morning in Laurel, where they took on Chevy Chase for a balmy outdoor game. Whitey’s Pond was true to its name, but the boys did not let a few inches of standing water or air temperatures in the 50's deter them! They had a great time, skated well, and displayed awesome passing and shooting to come away with decisive 9-0 and 10-4 victories, with hat tricks for several players. Great job all round!

Mite B2

The B2 team traveled to Harford and put up a win for their last regular game of the season! Way to go!
