Midget

The regular season has come to an end and the U-18's have accomplished their first goal by winning their division with an undefeated record of 14-0-4. The Freeze hosted the Reston Raiders on Saturday evening. Reston was fighting for their playoff lives and took a 3-2 lead midway through the second. The Freeze quickly tied the game and then went up 4-3 on the Power Play. Reston was desperate and with the goalie pulled were able to tie the game in the final 3 seconds. Looking to finish on a high note heading into the playoffs, the Freeze took on the Capitols Academy at home on Sunday. Seven different players scored as Frederick cruised to an 8-2 victory. The Freeze will travel to the St. James for the CBHL playoffs on Saturday. Their opponent has yet to be determined as final seeding will not be decided until the final divisional game is played on Tuesday evening.

The 14U team had a busy weekend. On Saturday, they headed to the Ice Gardens to play their rival Montgomery Blue. These teams were evenly matched and tied 3 to 3.

Sunday morning, we headed back to Ice Gardens to take on the Tri-City Eagles, winning 4 to 2. We then headed back to home ice at Skate Frederick to take on Montgomery Gold, winning 6 to 2.

Overall a successful weekend!

Pee Wee

12U LA

This weekend the Frederick Freeze headed back to Ion for a non-league match up against the Loudoun Knights. From the beginning of the game, you could tell both teams wanted the W. In the end, it was a high scoring game with the final score, 5-5. This was the last of many games against the Knights.

On Sunday, the Freeze hosted the Reston Raiders, making this their third match up in a week. The Freeze got on the board first and before the end of the first, scored another goal. Going into the third period, the Freeze was up 2-1. The Freeze ended up with another tally and then the Raiders pulled their goalie. After two failed attempts at the empty net, the Freeze finally got the puck and skated towards the net, when a Raiders player tripped them up, the Freeze was awarded the goal. Final score, 4-1. The Freeze will most likely face the Raiders again in the first round of CBHL playoffs.

Squirt

10U AA

The AA team finished up their CBHL regular season games by playing the Ashburn Xtreme on home ice last Saturday. The Freeze took the ice with determination and a never give up attitude. Unfortunately, this was not enough to gain control of the game and the Freeze fell to the Xtreme.

10U LA

On Sunday, the Freeze hit the road to play the Reston Raiders. The Freeze scored first, but Reston was able to tie up the game at 1-1 going into the second period. Reston was then able to score twice in the second period, to take a two goal lead into the final period. In the third period, the Freeze drew a penalty and were able to score on the power play, bringing the game to only a one goal deficit. Unfortunately, the Raiders came back and scored a goal not long after to get the two goal lead. With only a few minutes left, the Freeze pulled their goalie for the extra attacker and generated a few chances, but ultimately Reston was able to get the puck into the empty net and win the game with a final score of 5-2. The Freeze will need to pull it together and finish strong next weekend in their remaining three league games to secure a playoff spot.

Mite

8U UA

The Mite UA team traveled to Ion on Saturday to face Loudoun and it was all Freeze from the minute the puck dropped. Abe Camden, Nicholas Chung, Sebastian Northup and Johnny Smeraglia netted hat tricks for Frederick in a 26-1 win against the Knights.

On Sunday, the Freeze traveled to Reston to face both Raider Mite teams. Again, it was the Freeze dominating both games. Abe Camden, Sebastian Northup and Johnny Smeraglia scored hat tricks in a 21-1 win against the Raiders 1 team and Abe Camden, Nicholas Chung, Sebastian Northup, Brendan Waters scored hat tricks in a 27-2 win against the Raiders 2 team.
