It was a great weekend for hockey! The boys headed to Virginia Saturday for two non-league games. First off, the boys stopped in Reston. The Freeze wasted little time racking up the shots, 45 total by the end of the game. They dominated the game in the offensive zone and our goalie was on point securing the net. Freeze won 5-1.

Moving right along, the boys skated over to Piedmont later that evening where the game tempo started off hot. The physicality and speed were intense throughout the game. Although the Freeze were competitive with their opponent on shots on goal, the Freeze lost 7-2 against the Predators.

Sunday, the boys welcomed Easton to a home game. The Freeze dominated the game with their speed, passing and goal tending. The Freeze racked up 46 shots on net. Special shout out to Logan Musser for scoring his first hat trick of the season and to Trent Wivell for picking up another hat trick. The Freeze won 10-4. Way to go boys!

On Sunday, the Freeze hosted the Loudon Knights, for our first home game of the season. Before the game, the Freeze and the Knights came together to donate over 300 pairs of gently used shoes to be packaged and sent to Africa to be distributed to families without shoes. The UN says over 1.5 billion people worldwide do not own shoes. In sub-Saharan Africa, lack of shoes is the leading cause of parasitic infection and childhood illness. The Freeze AA families are working towards victories both on and off the ice this season.

Game time brought an electrifying 8-2 win over the Loudon Knights. The Freeze controlled every facet of the game. Scoring was led by Eli Grosh, who also secured his first hat trick of the season.

The Mite B Team traveled to Prince William on Sunday to take on the Potomac Patriots and came away with a great team victory! Scoring was led by Cameron Johnson, securing a hat trick, which led the way on an offensive charge to bury 13 pucks in the net, while defensive efforts helped protect our zone. This was the first week of a rotating goalie position. The goaltenders padded up and blocked some key shots to prevent Potomac from ever taking a lead in the contest.
