The 18U UA team traveled to the snowless Eastern Shore on Saturday evening to take on the Easton Ice Hawks. Easton scored first, as the Freeze struggled to find their legs after the long drive. The legs were found, order was restored, and the Freeze netted the final four goals of the game, cruising to a 4-1 win.

Home at last on Sunday to take on a tough Reston Raiders squad, the Freeze faced a gut check as they were tied 2-2 going into the third period. Captain Jake Mayer scored his second and third goals of the game for the Hattie. AJ Yuhas added three assists to secure a playmaker. The Freeze beat the Raiders with a score of 4-2.

Going into the holiday break, the team sits in first place in the 18U Upper Patrick Red Division with a record of 7-0-2, having scored 37 goals while only giving up 12.

Sunday’s game was a chippy, action-packed game against Tri-City, where the Freeze prevailed with the help of some great passing skills for a win with a score of 4-1.

14U LA

'Twas the weekend of travel for 14U LA. When throughout all the lands of I-95, not a creature was stirring. Yes, if only the team had a sleigh, but heck no, there were so many delays! Bantam LA dashed down the road for two league games against Hampton Roads. After a long winter’s nap to Chesapeake, VA, the boys faced off against the Whalers Saturday evening. Although the boys started things off slow, the first scoring opportunities for both teams would appear in the second period. Away in the third period, there arouse such a clatter, Frederick Freeze sprang to the opponent’s goal with such swagger. To the top of the crease, to the top of the blue line. Now score away, Score away, Score away boys! And then in a twinkling, the boys heard below, “Teamwork and perseverance, that’s the way to go.” The Freeze sleighed the Whalers 4-2.

Throughout the night, their jerseys were hung in the hotel closets with care, while visions of another victory, danced in their heads. The boys sprang from their beds with lots of chatter. Away to the rink, they flew like a flash. They tore open the rink doors packed with a vengeance never seen before. When what to their wondering eyes would appear, home ice advantage has never been more clear. Stellar goal tending by Landon Bernard throughout the game, gave him another shutout during this merry season. Hoorary, the boys claimed victory today 4-0.

As Coach Mike sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle
But we heard him exclaim, as he drove out of sight,
'Safe travels to all, Have a good night’

14U B

What a weekend for the 14U B team with a travel double header on Saturday! It began with an early morning drive to the Prince William Ice Center where we played an amazing game against the Potomac Patriots, winning 4-2 in an aggressive game. After a much needed rest, off we went to Bowie in the dark hours of night to play the Navy Blue team. Jack Dale, #77, got a hat trick helping us snag another win of 5-2. Whew, we definitely earned a nap!

Pee Wee

12U LA

The Pee Wee's hosted the Hagerstown Bulldogs UA team on Saturday for an EJEPL game. Hagerstown came out ready to win. They scored the first three goals with the Freeze answering back in the second to score one. The game picked up, and the Freeze was ready to fight for the win, but they just couldn't get the puck in the net despite multiple opportunities. The Freeze were defeated 7-3.

On Sunday, the Freeze hosted the other undefeated team in our division, the Ashburn Xtreme. The Freeze started the scoring, but Ashburn quickly scored to tie. The Freeze's offensive game was strong but again, just couldn't score. The game ended with yet another loss, 7-3.

We will have the next two weekends off to enjoy time with our families, but can't wait to continue the hockey season.

Squirt

10U AA

The AA team was back at it again this weekend with two home games. On Saturday, they faced the Montgomery Blue Devils AA Gold team for a CBHL & EJEPL matchup. Unfortunately, the Freeze was never able to gain control of the game and fell to the Blue Devils. The Freeze AA is sitting at second place in the EJEPL Herb Brooks Diamond Division, with a record of 8-3-0-1.

Sunday brought in the Delaware Ducks for a non-league rematch. From the puck drop the Freeze was showing their determination to take down the Ducks! The game was back and forth throughout. The team showed tremendous improvements from the day before, but was unable to take down the Ducks, and the game ended in a 2-2 tie.

Before the break, the Coaches of the AA team surprised the players with a fun practice, which consisted of wearing their favorite jersey and a turkey shoot! The 10U AA team would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy Holiday Season! We look forward to playing hockey in the New Year.

10U LA

On Saturday, the Freeze were on the road to play at the Ion Arena against the Loudoun Knights in a non-league game. The Freeze took the lead in the first period and after a tight second period, the lead remained 1-0 to start the third. The Knights scored early in the 3rd to tie it up, but then the Freeze took back the lead with about three minutes to go. The Knights were able to tie the game up once more, and send the game to overtime. The Freeze had many near-misses for the game winner in overtime, but the Knights were able to get one last rush, and score in the last minute for the 3-2 OT victory. Despite outshooting the Knights 26-15 and generating many scoring chances, it was a game where the bounces just didn't go the Freeze's way, even though they tried their best.

On Sunday, the Freeze were on the road to Hagerstown for a league game against the Bulldogs. The Freeze played strong to start the game and took a 1-0 lead after dominating most of the play in the first. Unfortunately, Hagerstown was able to get a goal with only seconds remaining in the period, which deflated the Freeze's momentum as they went into the second period tied at one. The Freeze and Bulldogs fought hard for the rest of the game with both teams having quality chances, but Hagerstown was able to capitalize on their chances, and scored the next five goals of the game. The Freeze kept fighting and was able to put one more goal on the scoreboard, before falling 5-2.

The UA team hosted a jamboree Sunday at Skate Frederick with Delaware, Reston and Hagerstown. Up first were the Jr. Blue Hens and Frederick quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead. The Blue Hens answered right back, but then the scoring was all Freeze for the remainder of the game, with Frederick securing the win 7-1. Up next was the always feisty Reston team, and this game was no different. The Raiders struck first, but the Freeze responded with five straight goals. Reston put up three additional goals to come within one of the Freeze and it was a fight to the finish, but Frederick prevailed 5-4. The final game against Hagerstown was a great team effort of passing, speed and communication, as the Freeze dominated the Bulldogs for a 5-0 win, with Evan Abromson earning the shutout.

The team heads to the Gardens Ice House in Laurel this weekend for the Crabtown Showdown Tournament, where they will face Caps Academy, MD Jr. Black Bears and Reston in their tournament bracket.
