BANTAM LA

The Bantam LA team played two games against the Hampton Roads Whalers, a team they are chasing for a playoff berth. On Saturday, the Freeze led the Whalers 2-0 after two periods before Hampton Roads stormed back to tie the game 2-2 early in the third. The Freeze grabbed the lead again with less than two minutes to play, but had to settle for the tie when the Whalers scored with 13 seconds remaining to make it 3-3.

Sunday provided a repeat of the previous day. The Freeze scored with less than four minutes to play in the third period to take a 1-0 lead, but the resilient Whalers scored two minutes later to make it 1-1 as time expired.

SQUIRT LA

On Saturday, the LA team traveled to the Ion center to play the NForcers. The game started out slow for the Freeze, as the NForcers netted two goals only seconds into the first period. The Freeze was never able to get control of the game and fell to the NForcers, 8-3.

On Sunday, the Freeze took on division leading SoMD Sabres. The Freeze knew this was going to be a tough game, so the team came out strong and held the Sabres to a scoreless first period. The second period began with tough defense and great goaltending. We had a few great breakaways and great shots on net, but they did not connect. Ending the second period with the Freeze down, 1-0.  The final period began with excitement as the Freeze worked hard to try and close the gap. Unfortunately for the Freeze, the Sabres came back and netted three more goals. Handing the Freeze a 4-0 loss.

SQUIRT B

Squirt B had an exciting weekend as we continued our push for the playoffs. The first match was a Saturday evening away game at Potomac. Potomac, the #2 CBHL team in our division, was sure to give us a tough battle. The two periods where back and forth, unfortunately the Patriots wore down the Squirts and won the game.

Redemption was the name of the game on Sunday. Southern Maryland made a trip to Skate Frederick to face the B’s. The Freeze scored first and never looked back, posting a 3-1 victory. Special recognition goes to Miles Gleason for securing a hat trick.

MITE LA

The Mite LA team traveled to Laurel this past weekend to play in their final CBHL Jamboree. The Freeze proved they were ready to play the moment the first puck was dropped. In their first game, Frederick jumped out to an early lead against NAVY, scoring eight unanswered goals for the victory.  Special recognition goes to Jay Vivian for securing a hat trick.  Up next was NoVA, and although the team battled hard, they could not get anything past the Ice Dogs netminder, falling 2-0. The Freeze bounced back against host Tri City, with three different teammates scoring multiple goals to secure the 7-0 shutout. They took that momentum right into their final game of the day against Southern Maryland. Led by Mason Lampe’s hat trick, the Freeze skated away with the 5-0 win. Shout out to the defense and goaltender Joseph Keenan on holding three of the four teams scoreless.
