Freeze Weekly Update

U16

The U16 team faced NOVA on Saturday. NOVA led the entire game until 5 minutes in the 3rd when the Freeze came back to tie it up. Unfortunately, NOVA scored an empty netter at the end to take the win 3-2.

Bantam LA

The Freeze Bantam LA team entered the weekend facing two CBHL teams ahead of them in the standings. To keep their playoff hopes alive, the Freeze would need to end Sunday with points.

On Saturday, the NOVA Ice Dogs visited Skate Frederick looking to avenge a late November loss to the Freeze. The Freeze jumped out to an early 2-0 lead, then allowed two Ice Dog power play goals early in the third period to tie the game at two. The Freeze held strong, scoring an even-strength goal with less than four minutes to play, then adding the empty-netter to secure the victory, 4-2, and the sweep of NOVA.

On Sunday, the Freeze crossed the Bay Bridge to play a late morning tilt against the Easton Ice Hawks. On this day, the Ice Hawks would jump out to the early 2-0 lead, but the Freeze showed their resolve, scoring late in the first period, then late in the third period to leave the Talbot County Community Center with a 2-2 tie.

The Freeze Bantam LA team ending the weekend with 3 out of a possible 4 points.

Bantam B

Bantam B ventured down the long road to Potomac on Saturday evening. Despite their efforts, the Freeze fell to Potomac 7-1. Sunday was a fresh start for the team. The boys came ready to play. The Freeze took the lead early on in the game & maintained throughout the game. Special shout out to Abe Piroozmand for picking up a hat trick! Great teamwork & hustle was evident on the ice. Way to go boys!

Pee Wee LA

The Freeze hosted league games at home both Saturday and Sunday. Saturday we played the Metro Maple Leafs. The Freeze won 6-0. Carl Borge was in net earning the shutout. On Sunday, we played the Piedmont Predators and the Freeze won 7-3.

Squirt UA

This weekend saw the UA Squirts travel to West Chester for the EJEPL Playoffs. Coming in with the bottom seed, the Freeze had nothing to lose. The tournament brought with it an opening round loss to eventual champions Wachusett, a jubilant overtime upset win over the Long Island Royals and a heartbreaking one point loss to Team Philadelphia. The loss kept Frederick out of the semi-finals but heads were turned and rival organizations, who met the addition of Frederick to EJ with a bit of skepticism, walked away with a profound respect for what the Coaches and most importantly the Boys accomplished this year. The Freeze wound up finishing fourth out of 13 in the EJ 10U Futures Gold Division.

Squirt LA

The LA team was off this weekend from CBHL competition. However on Sunday, they faced a different type of competition. They took on their coaches, parents and siblings in what was a welcomed change of pace. The game was filled with a lot of laughs, great competition and most importantly, fun!

Squirt B

Squirt B had an exciting and winning weekend! We started our Saturday with a home game against Baltimore. Both teams were fired up, with a shots on goal result of 30-29. The Freeze scored 2 in the first period and 2 in second and held the Stars to 1 goal in the third period, for a final score of 4-1. We faced off against Metro in their house on Sunday. The Maple Leafs scored first, but the Freeze struck back with 2 in the second. Metro brought it to 2-2 in the third. Freeze battled hard, scored on a power play, and secured a 3-2 victory.

Mites LA

The Mite LA team visited ION this past weekend to face the Nforcers. In Game 1, ION wasted no time and jumped out to a quick lead. The Freeze put up a fight the entire game but the shots just wouldn’t go in, and they fell to the Nforcers by a score of 2-1. In Game 2, the Freeze turned up the heat and 5 different team members were able to put the puck past the Nforcer’s goaltender. Led by excellent passing among the entire team and hat tricks by Mason Lampe and Jay Vivian, the team cruised to a 12-3 victory.

The team gets a rest this weekend before heading to Raleigh for their One Hockey tournament!

Mites B1

The B1 CBHL season over, the B1 Mites enjoyed a mini jamboree at Skate Frederick on Sunday morning, against Metro, Hagerstown and Howard County.

Mites B2

The Mite B2 team played their first tournament outdoors this weekend in York at the Avalanche Express Mite Classic. They played some extremely tough, physical teams and made it to the semi-finals! We are so proud of them!

Congratulations to all the teams that had games & tournaments over the weekend! Keep up the great work and good luck in this weeks games.
