Freeze Weekly Update

BANTAM LA

The Freeze Bantam LA team continues its push for the playoffs!

Entering the weekend with just three points out of the final playoff spot with two games in hand, the Freeze need points out of every game. On Saturday, the Ashburn Xtreme came to town, looking to sweep the season series. The XTreme scored 26 seconds into the game, but it was all Freeze the rest of the way, out-shooting Ashburn 29-19 en-route to a 4-2 victory, securing the series split.

Sunday brought Montgomery Blue to Skate Frederick. The first place Blue Devils had the swagger of a team that had beaten the Freeze, 7-2, in early December. Only now it's February, and this is a different Frederick team. The Freeze out-shot the Blue Devils 26-25 in a physical, tight-checking game that ended 0-0.

The Freeze picked up 3 of a possible 4 points, and now sit 2 points out of a playoff spot with two games to play! Let's go Freeze!

PEE WEE LA

The Freeze LA team had two more league wins this weekend. Saturday we hosted the Montgomery Blue Devils. Montgomery came out early to score the first goal, but then the Freeze came back with five unanswered goals to win 5-1.

Sunday, we traveled to Haymarket, VA to play the Piedmont Predators. Piedmont came out early also to score the first goal, but then the Freeze scored four to end the first period 4-1. The Freeze continued with great passing and team work to keep the lead throughout the game, winning 10-4.  Special recognition goes to Tristan Golden for securing a hat trick.

PEE WEE B

The Pee Wee B boys added to their win streak to make it 9 in a row against two of their most challenging league opponents this past weekend. Saturday, the boys stunned Reston 12UB in a 3-1 road win. They then set their sights on a quick Potomac 12UB team who were seeking revenge against the only team they have lost to all season. Potomac scored quickly and then held the Freeze goalless in the first period. With tenacity and grit, the boys changed the momentum of the game and found the back of the net four times in the final two periods. The match up ended with a 4-2 road win for the Freeze. Ty Yuhas had a hat trick.

SQUIRT UA

This weekend UA team split two CBHL road games. Saturday, the Freeze traveled to Richmond to take on the Generals. A noticeable lack of chemistry in the lines and defense, unquestionably due to the missing three players, abetted to the Freeze falling behind early. As the game progressed, the boys began to find each other but could not mount a comeback falling 6-2.

Sunday brought the Squirts to Potomac for a rematch with the Patriots. Like previous matches, it was hard fought and went down to the final minutes. The boys knew going in they would be without key players due to illness, and responded with tenacity and toughness for a satisfying 3-1 win.

SQUIRT LA

The LA team played their last two CBHL home games over the weekend. On Saturday, they took on NoVA. The Freeze quickly took the lead and control of the game and never looked back! The team was able to secure a much needed CBHL victory, defeating NoVA 7-4. Special recognition goes to Mason McClure for securing a hat trick. On Sunday, the Freeze took on the Piedmont Predators. The Predators quickly took control of the game and ended the first period up, 2-0. This game was an uphill, back and forth game. In the end, the Freeze fell to the Predators 6-4.

MITE B1

The Mite B1 team had a tough game against a very strong and physical Loudon NForcers team at Ion on Sunday. The Freeze came out fighting and played hard for three periods, but ultimately could not take home a win. We are proud of how they played and look forward to seeing them on the same form at next week’s tournament!

MITE B2

The Mite B2 Team played their last official CBHL jamboree and played hard! The improvements as a team from the first jamboree to this last one were obvious! Go Freeze!

Congratulations to all the teams that had games & tournaments over the weekend! Keep up the great work and good luck in this weeks games.
