Weekly Update 9/26-9/27

Midget

18U UA

The U18 boys traveled to Lancaster on Saturday to take on the Central Penn Panthers in non-league action. Building off last weekends two impressive wins, the Freeze wasted no time in jumping out to a 2-0 lead. After many nail-biting moments, the team came out on top with a 5-4 win!

16U LA

The U16 team skated away with 2 wins over the weekend. They won 5-2 Saturday at home against Palmyra and 5-1 Sunday at Reston, including a breakaway empty netter.

Bantam

14U LA

Bantam LA participated in two non-league home games over the weekend. The boys had a rocky start. They lost 6-1 against Harford on Saturday. Sunday, the boys came ready to play. The amount of offensive zone time combined with the endless teamwork & plentiful shots on goal, would lead them to defeat the Loudoun Knights UA, 5-2. Shout out goes to Trent Wivell for scoring his first hat trick of the season. Way to go boys!

14U

Three games, 2 days, 1 hat trick! The 14U B team was on the road bright and early Saturday for their game against the Lancaster Firebirds. The early morning didn't hold #12 Brendan Houston-Cammack back, earning his first hat trick of the season scoring 3 of our 5 goals for a win! The weekend finished with a hard-fought tie against the Junior Black Bears and an 8-1 win against the Bulldogs.

Squirt

10U AA

This weekend had the AA Squirts on the road Saturday and Sunday to Northern Virginia. Saturday had the Freeze skating into Reston to take on the Raiders. Giving up four early goals was too much  for a comeback as they fell 8-4. Sunday evening and road trip to Medstar Capitals Iceplex in Arlington to take on the Caps Academy. A tough match with an elite opponent was a learning experience and a gut check for the team. Undaunted, the kids kept fighting. Each week brings improvement and a tougher resolve.

10U LA

The Squirts 10U LA played their first home game on Sunday in a rematch with the Loudon Knights 10U LA. With a tie score of 3-3 in the middle of the second period, the Freeze fought hard and defeated the Knights again with a 6-3 victory. It was a great Sunday!

Mite

8U UA

The Mite UA team traveled to Ashburn on Saturday to play a very tough Extreme team. The Freeze came ready to play and jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the opening minutes of the game. The teams traded goals back and forth through the 1st half of the game. The battle continued in the 2nd half but it was the Extreme that came out victorious when the final buzzer sounded. The team had a strong showing on both offense and defense and will look to avenge the loss when they meet the Extreme again next month on home ice!

8U B

This weekend the Mite B team took on the Ashburn Xtreme UA and the Loudoun Knights. Saturday they kept that game tight in the first half, trading goals with the Xtreme but could not hold on for the full game. Sunday, the Mites fared much better. Abe Camden's hat trick took the fight to the Knights, working some great plays. A true team effort! The team showed great resilience, bouncing back from a tough Saturday to come out on top Sunday afternoon 9-6.
